Songwriters Weekend Workshop

Jumpstart your creativity. Take your music to the next level!

10 Hour Weekend Workshops (Sat. & Sun.)
Level 1: November 1st-2nd
Level 2: December 5th-6th

Join us for two exciting days exploring the Theory and Practice of writing music. The Level 1 session is for complete beginners and intermediate songwriters with some experience. Saturday is two 3 hour sessions with a 1 hour break and Sunday is two 2 hour sessions with a 1 hour break, totalling 10 hours for the weekend.

On the first day we will cover I-IV-V progressions, Major and Minor Keys, Inversions, Sevenths, and Arranging. You will get to see, hear, interact, and learn about songwriting in a holistic and fun way! On the second day you will compose your own chord progressions and melodies with tried and true methods that have been used by musicians for generations. Learn about voice leading, and hear it bring your music to life! Optional, but encouraged: bring in your own music to the "songwriters lab" for help with developing your sound.

About the Teacher:

Landon Strine is the founder of The Moonlit Studio. He has been writing, recording, and teaching music for many years. He has a bachelor's degree in music composition and specializes in teaching piano, voice, and all styles of guitar. In addition, Landon offers songwriting workshops, Mixing and Mastering, and music theory tutoring. He is also available as a studio multi-instrumentalist and producer. Tours include Carnegie Hall, Arlington Theatre, Costa Rica, Hawaii, and Guatemala. His unique sound combines the folk guitar sound he grew up with and the music he imagines in those moments between sleep and wakefulness. He also draws his inspiration from the songs of birds, the sound of the ocean, and the rain falling through leaves. Landon prefers to make music his own way, using an entirely unique process, recording and producing his own music. Listen to music here: soundcloud.com/landon-strine
